Skin irritations are common in infants and can appear as a diaper rash, eczema, cradle cap or other skin problems. Homeopathy is the practice of using highly diluted preparations of a substance to treat an ailment. There are several homeopathic treatments that can be used to treat infant skin irritation problems. Sulphur A homeopathic preparation of sulphur can be used to treat nappy rash, eczema and other skin irritations. It is most effective on skin irritations that are dry, red and scaly. Sulphur is often used when a rash is hot and painful or when your infant is prone to scratching. If your baby particularly dislikes water and bathing sulpher may be the most suitable homeopathic treatment. Graphites A solution of graphites is commonly used for diaper rash but works on other rashes as well. A homeopathic preparation of graphites should be administered for diaper rash when there is a sticky discharge similar to honey that causes a crusty rash when it dries. It is also works well on cracked or weepy skin resulting from eczema or other skin irritations. Rus Toxicodendron Rus toxicodendron (rus tox) is a common homeopathic treatment for skin irritation caused by diaper rash. Rus tox is suitable for diaper rash where the skin is itchy, red, dry and swollen, and your infant feels more comfortable when the area is exposed to fresh air. Rus tox also clear up blisters that develop in the area covered by the diaper and can also be used to clear up eczema and other skin irritations. Chamomilla Although it is not used to treat the skin irritation itself, chamomilla is a very useful homeopathic treatment for infants with skin irritations. Chamomilla can relax and calm an infant, easing the pain and discomfort caused by skin irritations.
